At Mazda of Columbia, you’ll find the latest Mazda models on our lot. As for what you can expect from Mazda’s newest selection, the manufacturer produces crossovers, SUVs, sports cars, sedans, hatchbacks, and now EVs. Among the lineup, the oldest of the bunch is the world-renowned MX-5, more commonly known as the Miata, and both the Mazda3 and Mazda6 sedans released in 2003 and 2002, respectively. The Miata, in particular, has always been known for its sleek style and convertible rooftop, although drivers can opt for a hard-top variant if they’d prefer.
Other Mazda vehicles that are well worth considering on the new market include the full lineup of SUVs: the CX-30, CX-5, CX-50, CX-9, and the MX-30 EV. Each of the four gasoline-powered SUVs continuously garners praise, all the way from the oldest SUVs for sale, such as the CX-9, to the models that would release later, such as the CX-30. Each year, the Mazda lineup gets better than ever, which means if you’re going to buy a new vehicle this year, there’s nothing like the present.
For the new Mazda SUVs for sale in 2022, it begins with the CX-30, which is not only one of the newer SUVs on the lineup, but it’s also the most cost-effective – coming in at more than a few thousand dollars less than the CX-5. That’s not to say the CX-30 is subpar – it’s simply smaller than the CX-5 but can still pack a punch with performance. Both the CX-30 and CX-5 come with a 2.5L I-4 engine that outputs near-identical performance, and the same can be said for the available turbocharged 2.5L I-4 engine too. Where the CX-5 outdoes the CX-30 is in other aspects, such as cargo space and technology, including an additional 10 cubic feet of cargo space with the seats folded up and a larger infotainment center.
The top-of-the-line CX-9 comes with the same turbocharged 2.5L I-4 engine, albeit it’ll come standard with this SUV. Like the CX-5 and CX-30 before it, the main difference comes down to size and cargo space, which is what you’d expect for a three-row SUV. If you want to shake things up, then go with the 2022 MX-30 EV, which is Mazda’s first-ever electric-powered vehicle produced, and it’s also an SUV.
Where Mazda truly shines is with its sedans and sports cars, which have been the company’s proverbial bread and butter for some time. The MX-5 Miata is a sports car with style and substance to match and is one of two Mazda vehicles still available with a manual transmission. Simply put, if you want a sports car, and you want a Mazda, the Miata is the natural fit.
Next is the Mazda3 sedan, which is Mazda’s second-longest-running vehicle in the lineup. With your 2022 Mazda3, you can opt for one of three powertrain configurations, including the same turbocharged 2.5L I-4 engine found inside the pricier SUVs, plus fuel efficiency is even better in the Mazda3 than in the SUVs.
What if you enjoy the idea of the Mazda3, but you’d rather have a hatchback? Fortunately, there’s the 2022 Mazda3 hatchback. The main benefit of opting for the hatchback is expectedly cargo space, but even base-level performance is better thanks to the omission of the base 2.0L I-4 engine found on the Mazda3 sedan. And, the Mazda3 hatchback is the second of the two vehicles to feature a manual transmission, which you don’t have the option of whatsoever on the sedan model.
